I got a call from our friend Rick over at OC Infiniti asking what I had planned for the morning of 9/3. It was a Saturday and I had some VIP tickets for the Call of Duty XP happening right up the street from my house, so my day looked pretty booked. He told me Infiniti corporate was going to be bringing out one of their F1 cars to the Irvine Cars and Coffee event, and they asked him to round up some of the more heavily modified Infiniti’s to park around it. It’s a morning event (very early morning… we had to be there by 5:30am), so I figured I could make it out there for the event and be home well before 2pm when I was supposed to be at the Call of Duty event.

I told Rick we’d be there, and then got online and asked the rest of the team to come out. Now, I’ve always wanted to go to Cars and Coffee. It happens every week, and every week I see pictures from the event of cars you never see driving on the street. The only problem is that it starts early, and it’s about 50 miles away. I typically go to bed around 3am, so getting me anywhere by 5:30am is usually a lost cause. This event sounded pretty special though, and the fact that Rick thought to invite us made the decision easy.

After 2 hours of sleep, I left early and arrived by 5am. It was pitch black outside and I was the 3rd person there. It was too cold and damp to wipe down the car, so I just sat around and waited for the team to arrive. Around 5:15 people started showing up, and by 5:30 there was a nice group of Infiniti’s lined up and waiting to be parked. OC Infiniti showed up a little closer to 5:45 and started parking us in their reserved area. At about 6, the Infiniti/Red Bull F1 car came in on a see through/lit trailer. They unloaded it, pushed it over to the reserved area, and roped it off. From that point on the car was surrounded by people, and was the focus of the event.

Overall the event was great! Cars and Coffee is definitely something to check out at least once, the turn out is huge and the quality/rarity of the cars that show up is awesome. It was great having the team out there on display, and always a good time seeing all the other Infiniti owners/friends we’ve met over the years.

Thanks to Rick and Ken from OC Infiniti for having us come out! Oh, and Call of Duty MW3 looks and plays great!
