Day 5
Vegas baby!
Don’t get me wrong, this whole trip has been a great time, but heading back to Vegas for the events the Mod Ball Team had in store, was definitely the reward at the end of this trip.
Naturally, in true Modball fashion, there was no time to sleep in. Instead we headed out at 6:00am sharp for sunrise at the Grand Canyon. Awesome sight to see and if you have never done it, I highly recommend you at least see this once. However, dress warmly if you’re doing this in November because it was freezing up there. The car temp said 41, but after the wind came in and started gusting, it seemed to be colder than a witch’s tit.

After the sunrise, we were off to a little complimentary buffet at the Grand Hotel. Immediately after breakfast, we packed up the car and hit the road back to Vegas. This portion of the drive turned out to be a good time all in itself. With the first group taking off to make some last minute arrangements in Vegas and the rest of the teams still getting ready to go, we decided to head out in the middle to capture some good footage from both sides of the pack.
As we made it through Kingman AZ, we realized that we were a couple hours ahead of the back half of the group and decided to do a little net booking at the local Mickey D’s. This had to be the only Mickey D’s to not have Wi-Fi that worked. Moving on a little further, we let the back half know that we would meet them up at the Hoover Dam and to hit us up on the mobile when they got a little closer.
Another spot we recommend you stop at. The Hoover Dam is something to see for sure and they have done a lot to keep it looking modern and protected. Creating a crowd wherever we go, the Rare JDM G35 quickly became the center of attention up at the top of the Dam, pulling in kids and grandmothers alike. We even had a couple special guest appearances from the local PD, big shout out to a couple fellow car lovers at the Bureau of Reclamation Police Department. A couple great guys, and glad to have met you. Let’s not forget our new friends Janice and Connie! They had a great time sitting in the car taking some photos, we sure hope your grand kids liked the stickers we sent!

The rest of the gang got closer so it was time to put the cameras away and hit the road again. Back on the highway, cameras set up and on, it was time to join in with the pack and get into Vegas for the nights festivities.
Pulling in to Palms Place, we hit the hotel hard and ready to party. After checking in to the hotel, it was time for a quick cocktail and off to the Modball Basketball tournament and awards presentation. Modball treated us first class the whole way, and tonight was no different. The presentation and nights events were held at the Hardwood Suite in the Palms, sporting an indoor basketball court and more beds and showers than we could use. Naturally, Rare JDM dominated bringing in 3 awards for the rally leaving no doubt we came to play. As the night progressed, Lexani and Asanti wheels treated us all to a SEMA after party with a special appearance by The Prescription and the Fuel Girls.

With the top Fuel Girl, Susie, out on the floor breathing fire, The Prescription had everyone in the house banging to their hard rock beats. Leaving no doubt that this was a special night for all that had the chance to check out their show, we look forward to hearing more from them as their East Coast tour begins shortly.
The night went on with the Vodka flowing and the ladies on parade for all to see. It was getting closer and closer to Wednesday morning and time to get back into business mode to hit the floor at SEMA.
Modball had officially ended at this point, but many of us stayed a couple extra nights to keep the good times going, and to get some business done at SEMA. Thanks to Jim and Diane for making sure we had the passes we needed to get us into SEMA. A couple of great people, we were fortunate to meet you!
With the Rally complete, we racked up a little over 2100 miles. We received no tickets, had no problems, and made a bunch of new friends along the way. It was a great trip, and an awesome experience. Thanks to Jon of Mod Ball, the Fuel Girls, and The Prescription for putting on a great event. Thanks to our sponsors; SmartWax and Dave’s Garage for making the trip possible. Also, thanks to the car sponsors; Berk Technology, Cosworth, SmartWax, Nitto, and Work Wheels USA, for their continued support!
